Though this may be in its very EARLY stages, I feel that timing may be on our side. Once again, the boards are starting to buzz quietly and I’m finding that at the center of the noise is AMPG, Amplitech Group, Inc. Now, once you look at this pick, you may think I’ve gone a bit (mad) but I will say that the last low volume pick with little trade history has already made a run of 50% over the course of 3 days…so far! In my opinion, AMPG could be the next in line and I want to make sure that I bring it to you first (just like I did this last one) before the bigger networks catch on:

–Company Website–
AmpliTech (AMPG) is an emerging growth company that designs, develops, and manufactures custom and standard state-of-the-art RF components for the Commercial, SATCOM, Space, and Military markets. AMPG, designs, engineers and assembles micro-wave component based amplifiers that meet individual customer specifications. The Company’s products consists of RF amplifiers and related subsystems, operating at multiple frequencies from 50kHz to 44GHz, including Low Noise Amplifiers, Medium Power Amplifiers, oscillators, filters, and custom assemblies such as MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) and MIC ( Microwave Integrated Circuit) designs. AMPG also offers non-recurring engineering services on a project-by-project basis.

AMPG Product Scope
Competitive pricing, high performance, quality, and reliability are the basis of all AMPG products. According to AMPG, all products can be screened up to Space Qualified Level, what this means is that the company uses strict guidelines for assembly that meet military grade inspection criteria including MIL-STD 883 guidelines. AmpliTech maintains an assortment of procedures and documentation that facilitates the testing of all our amplifiers to MIL-STD 883 level. This simple step is actually a very important piece of AMPG’s product mix, which allows the company to set itself apart from others in the market.
AmpliTech can screen the product to the characteristics of MIL-STD-883 and MIL-PRF-38534 tailored specifically to its customers’ needs, or to any extent necessary up to and including Space Level “S” screening. This can be done for the entire assembly and/or individual parts in the assembly with the result being a lower cost product to its customers. AMPG does this by purchasing commercial parts and having them up-screened to “S” level, in-house, versus buying costly screened parts directly from vendors.
AmpliTech has taken the experiences of its founders and has formulated a whole new way of manufacturing and offering amplifiers. AMPG has also taken information from leading systems and components manufacturers in order to offer a newer, more efficient process of Low Noise Amplification (LNA) manufacturing.
The Competitive Advantage
AMPG’s competitive advantage may not only lie in its experience and stringent inspection criteria but in its overall business model as well. In keeping a low overhead, AMPG has been able to reduce manufacturing steps, which allows the company to offer a state-of-the-art amplifier at extremely competitive pricing. In fact, according to the recent 10-Q filing, AMPG saw an increase in sales by 18% compared to the same 3-month period in 2012. This increase was directly related to AMPG’s ability to keep production cost low through outsourcing the assembly process for certain sales orders to a third-party. This spared in-house production to focus on higher margin sales orders and increased AMPG’s overall production.
AMPG Customers
AmpliTech is currently an official registered supplier to the US government (CAGE CODE # 3CS43) and has recently also become a supplier to the Australian, Russian, Canadian, French, German, Italian, Israeli, and UK governments. Furthermore, AMPG serves a diverse customer base across the industries as aerospace, governmental defense, and commercial satellite.
Some of its customers are established Fortune 100 corporations, such as Boeing Aerospace, NASA, Raytheon, Government of Israel, Ministry of Defense, and Mitsubishi Electronics. You can also see more customer case studies below:
Lockheed Martin & AmpliTech: There are very few solutions for frequencies of 0.01 and 1 GHz. Lockheed Martin not only needed high output power (+23dBm) but ultra low noise figure (0.9 typ), and steady gain of 16dB. AmpliTech not only met their demands but also provided excellent VSWR, low power consumption in a very compact, rugged package.
DirectTV & AmpliTech: Next generation satellites for DirecTV will contain space qualified amplifiers in order to receive the best signal, highest reliability, and provide the best clarity. The lightweight construction and the high performing specifications were the benefits that DirecTV needed to excel in their new fleet of satellites.
NASA & AmpliTech: NASA has a very sophisticated instrument to monitor the earth’s water cycle remotely. The Amplitech LNA’s were used to replace the existing ones in the front-end of the radiometer to improve system performance by increasing the gain and decreasing the system noise temperature.
AMPG in the News
In The Economic Report, Greg Gumbel reported on the key features, uses, and benefits of amplification products and how AMPG’s technology makes it possible for people to live their daily lives. Whether it’s chatting on the cell phone or watching a satellite broadcast this technology is part of many aspects in day-to-day activities.
